Dr. Rebecca Hall is a lawyer, historian, author, and grandchild of enslaved people. She previously represented low-income tenants and families experiencing homelessness. Hall has taught at UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley and is a visiting professor of law at the University of Utah. Her new book ‘Wake: The Hidden History of Women-Led Slave Revolts’ is a graphic novel that explores the history of women in ship and slave revolts. We talk to Dr. Rebecca Hall about her book, her stance on reparations in light of the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa race massacre, how the idea of ‘in unity’ links to Juneteenth, and much more.
