MARK ZUCKERBERG, JACK DORSEY GRILLED BY SENATORS: Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter’s Jack Dorsey testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the monitoring of content on their social media platforms, specifically regarding the 2020 election. These tech leaders are expected to defend Section 230 of the Communication Decency Act, which says that websites cannot be held legally responsible for what people post. With no evidence, Republicans have repeatedly accused social media companies of censoring conservative voices and claim that there is a bias amongst the companies. GOP members of the committee are likely to highlight the companies’ decisions to block stories that made false claims about President-elect Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, as well as their use of flagging misleading or false information shared by officials—like Pres. Trump’s frequent tweets of mass voter fraud or that he’s won the election.
