GOP SEEKS TO INVESTIGATE RUSSIA PROBE: Former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee on oversight into the Russia investigation. He is the fourth high-ranking official to testify before the GOP-led committee during its review of the investigation. McCabe is expected to defend the bureau’s actions and investigations into Pres. Trump and his campaign links with Russia. ‘We didn’t open a case because we liked one candidate or didn’t like the other one,’ McCabe’s prepared remarks read. according to a draft of McCabe’s remarks before a Senate panel. ‘We opened a case because it was our obligation–our duty—to do so. We did our job.’
Senate Judiciary Chair Lindsey Graham has given himself sweeping subpoena powers to look into the Russia investigation and to see if it was biased against Pres. Trump. Trump has repeatedly called the Russia investigation a ‘hoax,’ even though multiple intelligence agencies and the GOP-controlled Senate Intelligence Committee have all confirmed that Russia did indeed interfere in the 2016 election with the aim of helping elect Trump.
