TRUMP HOLDS ‘SUPERSPREADER’ RALLY IN NORTH CAROLINA: Pres. Trump holds his third of five superspreader-style rallies in five states today. He’s in Hickory, NC, where a crowd of mostly maskless people pressed closely together in a line a half mile long to gain admittance. North Carolina is a key swing state that went blue in the presidential elections of 2016 and 2008, but red in 2012 and 2004. It’s also the site of a close U.S. Senate race that could decide which party controls the chamber. COVID-19 is surging in the Tar Heel state, with 2,000+ new cases reported on each of the last 6 days. A Stanford study estimates that 18 of Trump’s recent rallies have contributed to 30,000 new coronavirus cases and 700 deaths. More than 230,000 Americans have died from disease under Trump’s watch, and millions have lost jobs from the economic fallout of the pandemic.
