Senate Reconvenes After Presidential Election | LIVE | NowThis

SENATORS SPEAKS AFTER BIDEN’S VICTORY: Senators gather for their first session since Joe Biden was named the President-elect of the United States. As Pres. Trump refuses to accept the results, Republicans remain split on how to respond. Sen. Mitt Romney was one of the first major GOP names to congratulate Biden on his victory, along with former Pres. George Bush. Other party leaders, like Sen. Mitch McConnell, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and House Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy, have yet to acknowledge the outcome of the election, and instead have echoed the idea that all ‘legal votes’ must be counted.

Though the House remains under Democratic control, the control of the Senate is in limbo as two key Senate seats in Georgia face run-off elections in January. So far at least three senators have been voted out and will be finishing their term as lame-duck leaders, including Sens. Cory Gardner of Colorado, Martha McSally of Arizona, and Doug Jones of Alabama.
